"If you can dream you can achieve," was the team motto for this year's Panther football team, and on the whole "we exceeded expectations, and beat teams we were not supposed to be able to beat," said co-coach Dewayne Combs. Another quality that described this squad--on any given day, anything could happen. "We were definitely explosive and unpredictable," co-coach Brian Heather said from a number of first-year players is all that was needed for this group of "believers" to earn some respect. That unpredictable quality and what Heather describes as a lot of team speed led to highlights such as a 31-30 upset win against Washington, where the Panthers took a lead and a tenacious defense held on in the last moments to secure the win. The club finished 5th overall, with a 5-4 record, in part due to good depth at quarterback after some injuries, and outstanding performances on defense.
