Boys Basketball An “overachieving” (according to coach DeWayne Combs)
boys basketball team is off to a 3-3 start, with solid, high scoring
guard play and excellent rebounding driving the team. The wins came
over Humboldt, Monroe and Washington. Losses to Monroe, and two tough
losses--one in overtime to Capitol Hill and another by just three
points against Highland--balanced out the Panthers’ record. The players
selected Adam Simmons, Quiqui Copper and Byron Evans as captains of a
team that Coach Combs describes as “very quick and defensive minded,
with group of guards able to score a lot of points.” As of press time,
the team is heading into a stretch with three games in the span of a
week (against Hazel Park, Ramsey and Murray), to be followed by the
City play-offs, which begin March 7th. Click here for the final update.
