                    Units

1. The arrival of Native Americans & European Exploration
    We will explore & discuss: the theories explaining the Native American presence in America, Native American culture, European exploration, and European settlement in America.

2.The Colonial Period
    We will study the chain of events leading to English control of our continent.

3.The Fight For Independence    
    We will study the events leading up to  the Revolutionary War an the war itself.

4. The Constitution
     This will be a review of America's rules of government.

5. Slavery & The Civil War
    We will explore the reasons for the division of our country and the war that followed.
6. The World Wars, Civil Rights, and other 20th Century topics.

Resources to be used:
        The Creating America text used by 7th graders in our district.
        
        Videos and other materials supplied by me.    
        
        Library resources within the building.

Coursework:
        Chapter reviews and other book work.
        
        Map work and other supplementals.
        
        Tests
        
        Several major projects, details to follow, however all projects will be             in line with the 4th-8th Grades State of Minnesota Standards for Social         Studies.
