Monday 9/15    Conducting Surveys

Objective:  Students will distinguish between a population and a sample.  Students will determine various sampling methods.

Skills questions:      

What is a representative sample?  
What is the population of a given survey?

Homework (if not completed in class):  worksheet over populations and samples

Tuesday 9/16      10-1      Organizing and Displaying Data
Objective:  Students will be able to organize data in tables and graphs.  Students will be able to choose a table or graph to display data.
Standards:
Vocabulary:  bar graph, line graph, circle graph
Skills questions:
How do you read and interpret bar graphs?
    How do you read and interpret double bar graphs?
    How do you read and interpret line graphs?

Objective:  Students will create stem-and-leaf plots.  Students will create frequency tables and histograms.

Objective:  Students will be able to describe the central tendency of a data set.  Students will be able to create box-and-whisker plots.
