Girl's Volleyball
 | | Girl's Volleyball 2007 | Ana Dien interviewed Ms. Gutz about the 2007 Girls soccer team. She said, "it was a bit rough in the beginning." Then the girls gained more confidence and started working as a team. As the team work progressed, the talent started to show. We ended the season with 6:3 record. The staff declawed the "Girls", making them a stronger team, able to defeat the upper teams in the tournament this weekend. Ms. Gutz is very proud of each and every player.
Submitted to the November Newsletter by Mr. Alper-Leroux Girls’ volleyball traveled a rugged road this season--beginning with a close loss versus eventual co-champion Hazel Park and one contest with Highland Park that was decided by a matter of a few points. But as the season went on, the Panthers gathered speed, finishing with four straight wins and a final record of 6-3, tied for third place. Co-captains Samantha Olson and Andrea Beaulieu led the team. The team benefited from the consistent serves of Kathy Weston (once landing 13 serves in a row) and emerging talent 8th grader Paige Betters. Coach Tami Gutz also recognized the enthusiasm of Danielle McClenton and Tammyanne Miller. The majority of the players were 8th graders, so it will be a new crew that starts off next year's volleyball campaign. "This was a group that really took the words 'team' and teamwork' to heart," says Coach Tami Gutz.
