3M Community -School-wide Partnership Project 10/22/2008October
24th will be a special day for BCMS. We have 3 projects planned as a
partnership with 3M which will include the following: 1. New benches for each field. 2.
Two flower gardens in the front of the building (Pink Ribbon in support
of Breast Cancer Awareness and “BCMS”) The gardens will be made up of
tulips! 3. Canvas murals – one for each Team Academy!
Up to 50 volunteers from Hands On Twin Cities, 3M and the community descended on Battle Creek Middle School Friday, October 24th, to help with landscaping, the painting of murals and construction of benches for baseball and softball fields. Among the landscaping highlights there was the planting of a “Garden of Sisterhood,” a collection of pink tulips in the shape of the iconic pink ribbon, which signifies breast cancer awareness. The garden helps to wrap up the school’s core value of sisterhood and brotherhood and is dear to Battle Creek staff members, several of whom have battled breast cancer.
