More about Ms. Sims This is my tenth year in the St. Paul School District. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a minor in German and Coaching. I continued my educational journey at St. Mary’s University where I earned my Master’s Degree in 2000 followed by my Adminstrative Licensure in 2003.
I began my career in education as a teacher at Roosevelt Elementary. In addition to Roosevelt Elementary, I also taught at Galtier Magnet Elementary and John A. Johnson Elementary. I began my administrative career at Battle Creek Middle School, in 2003, as an Administrative Intern. I was promoted to an Assistant Principal and served as one for two consecutive years. Last April, I was selected by the Site Council and the Superintendent to become the new principal of Battle Creek Middle School. This promotion is truly a dream come true!
When I am not spending my time with the family at Battle Creek, I am spending it with my family at home. I am married to a wonderful man, Damon, who is a Navy Recruiter in North St. Paul/Maplewood. We have a one year old son, Maximus, who is full of energy and has lots of curls on his head! We also have a German Shepherd dog named Raina. We all enjoy spending time together shooting hoops, fishing in our boat, and camping on the weekends. We are huge sports fanatics and spend Sundays cheering on the Packers! I am also a certified basketball official and spend November through March on the court enjoying MY favorite past time!
Lots of great things continue to happen at Battle Creek Middle School. Recently we made AYP, or Adequate Yearly Progress. While we have maintained an excellent attendance rate, an increase in our MCA II test scores helped boost our status to making AYP! The staff of BCMS is dedicated and relentless when it comes to doing what is right for the students and their learning! In addition, we continue to move forward with Panther Pride – being punctual, prepared and polite! This is the driving force of what we do at Battle Creek Middle School. You are sure to see the three P’s when you come in the building!
I personally invite each and every one of you to come and spend some time getting to know Battle Creek Middle School. There are many opportunities for parents, families and community members to stay in tune and be involved with what is happening at BCMS. You may continue to browse our website, visit Parent Portal, or simply stop by for a visit. We have a Parent Resource room located in the office for parents to use to stay on top of their student’s progress at school!
