The reading department is a part of the English department, offering support to those students who may need additional reading skills. We provide instruction in understanding and recalling text which includes developing skills in word recognition, vocabulary, comprehension, and literature.
Work is done in fiction & non-fiction, although in reading classes non-fiction is emphasized to match up with standardized testing.
Students develop confidence in their reading. Reading instruction provides strategies that can be transferred to all subject areas.
